Non-Latex Condoms

Non-latex condoms are an alternative to latex male condoms. People who are allergic to latex should use non-latex condoms. Many people prefer non-latex condoms because they allow body heat and sensations to pass through more easily.

Some non-latex condoms, such as Avantis, are made of thin polyurethane, the same material as female condoms. They are lubricated and are effective against pregnancy. Polyurathane male condoms have not been proven as effective as latex condoms for the prevention of STI and HIV transmission, although they do reduce the risk of STI and HIV transmission.

Most other non-latex condoms, such as NaturaLambs, are made of animal skin or intestines. It is important to make sure that these condoms are sufficiently lubricated before use. While these condoms are effective methods of contraception, they are not effective against STI and HIV transmission. They contain naturally occurring microscopic holes which are large enough to allow some STI's and HIV pass through. However, they are also a good alternative to partners who are both monogamous and certain to not possess any STI's or HIV.

Currently, SSIS sells Avanti polyurethane condoms. SSIS does not sell animal membrane condoms.
